PEILCC Launches Second Annual Safe Grad Fundraiser

The Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Commission is pleased to launch its second annual province-wide Support Safe Grad fundraising campaign on Monday, March 1, 2010, announced Hon. Robert Vessey, Minister Responsible for the Liquor Control Commission. “Customers will be able to support safe grad celebrations by donating $1 at their local liquor retail location during the month of March. All donations will be distributed to PEI high schools to help fund their alcohol-free graduation celebrations.”

PEILCC liquor stores will offer sample-sized packages of chocolate to customers to thank them for their donation. “We look forward to building on the success of last year’s campaign which is part of our social responsibility programs for 2010. These programs promote the responsible use of beverage alcohol and includes the prevention of underage drinking and the promotion of zero consumption for minors,” commented Brooke MacMillan, PEILCC CEO.

Funds generated through this program will supplement fundraising and volunteer efforts of parents, students and teachers who work year round to ensure the success of safe grad activities. One hundred percent of the donations for the Support Safe Grad campaign will be distributed to high schools hosting safe grad events.
