Proposals Selected for Premier’s Innovation Speaker Series

Innovation and Advanced Learning Minister Allan Campbell recently announced the top five proposals selected to receive funding through the Premier’s Innovation Speaker Series.

The Premier’s Innovation Speaker Series, an initiative of the Island Prosperity Strategy, is designed to advance knowledge and activities in the priority sectors of bioscience, including agriculture and fisheries, aerospace, information technology and renewable energy.

“Our goal is to bring world-class experts to Prince Edward Island to share their ideas and knowledge with our academic and business communities to promote economic growth through innovation,” said Minister Campbell.

Funding support will be provided to local leaders who have identified professionals to deliver public lectures, seminar presentations, and lead or participate in panel discussions in PEI.

The following projects will be offered funding from the Premier’s Innovation Speaker Series through the Island Prosperity Strategy:

1. PEI Institute of Agrologists ~ Title: Championing Agriculture.

2. UPEI’s School of Business Centre for Biotechnology Management Research ~ Title: Venture Capital Companies and Investment Strategy in Bioscience and Technology Areas from a Canadian and US perspective.

3. Three Oaks Innovation Inc. ~ Title: Role of the Open Source in Entrepreneurship and Innovations.

4. UPEI’s School of Business Centre for Biotechnology Management Research ~ Title: Modern Approaches to Development in the Biopharmaceutical Industry.

5. Three Oaks Innovation Inc. ~ Title: Licensing University Technology - A Perspective from a Large Corporation.
