The completion of the new Visitor's Guide is the first sign that the 2010 tourism season is just around the corner says Minister of Tourism and Culture Robert Vessey.
“A very popular vacation planning tool, the Visitor's Guide is ready to be put in the hands of potential visitors,” said Minister Vessey. “The Tourism and Culture staff work with industry to produce a very high quality in-house annual publication which requires an incredible joint effort. This year's work is evident, beginning with the cover that clearly illustrates our 2010 culinary theme.”
The 208-page, magazine-style guide is packaged to promote the brand positioning of the Gentle Island of Rejuvenation. The cover photo conveys perfectly the culinary experience that is unique to Prince Edward Island.
When consumers request a vacation package, they will receive additional information with the 2010 Visitor's Guide. This includes an Island Highway map and the Island Vacation Packages booklet. This publication provides the convenience of planning a vacation in Prince Edward Island with one easy click or call. The packages include half-day, full-day and multi-night experiences, and range from an oyster shucking "jaunt" to a three-day golf package. A welcome letter from the Minister of Tourism will also be included in the package. In addition, to complete the vacation planning kit, all of this literature will arrive in a printed envelope featuring a beautiful Island scene.
More than 250,000 copies of the Visitor's Guide have been printed for the 2010 season and will be distributed through the Island's Visitor Information and Destination Centres. As well, they will be provided at Atlantic Canada House in Vancouver at the 2010 Winter Olympics, consumer shows and mailed upon requests from the website and call centre. The Visitor’s Guide is printed in both English and French, and can also be found online in both languages at www.gentleisland.com and www.douceurdelile.com. The French Guide will be ready for distribution at the end of February 2010.
