More Choice - from our Nation's Capital to Canada's Birthplace

The Charlottetown Airport Authority announced today that Air Canada has added a second daily direct flight between Charlottetown and Ottawa. The flight will operate from May 1 to October 30, 2010.

"The first direct flight to Ottawa was added almost two years ago and it has been performing well," noted Doug Newson, CEO of the Charlottetown Airport. "We are pleased to see that the market has developed and Air Canada was able to add this additional capacity for our busy tourism season."

The new service will depart from Charlottetown at 6:00 a.m. daily and depart from Ottawa at 8:25 p.m.

Newson continued, "This is good news as it gives our business travellers more choice and it will also have a positive impact on our province for the summer, allowing more tourists to visit our beautiful province with the ease and convenience of direct flights."

"We have been working with the Charlottetown Airport and partner air carriers in an effort to grow air access to PEI, and we are pleased to see this flight added," said Robert Vessey, Minister of Tourism and Culture. "A second non-stop flight from Charlottetown to Ottawa is a welcome addition. The Ottawa market is a key market with an affinity to what the Island has to offer as a vacation destination."
