Provincial Grant for Defibrillators at Recreational Facilities

Health and Wellness
The Department of Health and Wellness encourages Recreational Facilities across Prince Edward Island to apply to the provinces Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Grant Program.

“With access to this life-saving tool, public recreation facilities will be safer places for Islanders to gather and be active,” said Minister Bertram.

The Grant Program will cover 50 percent of the cost of an eligible AED, up to a maximum of $1,000 per unit. Recreation PEI looks after the administrative functions of the program. For application information contact them at 902-892-6445 or via email at info@recreationpei.ca.

“We, the Government of Prince Edward Island, are pleased to provide this program, which will help to save lives in rinks and recreational facilities throughout our province,” said Minister Bertram. “I encourage facilities to apply; having a defibrillator is one means to ensure the safety of their athletes, fans and visitors.”

Successful applicants will provide staff with immediate AED training, now included in standard CPR courses, and maintain annual training when an AED is on site.
