Renovations and improvements to local recreational facilities in Borden-Carleton are underway, thanks in part to a provincial investment of $21,000 under the Island Community Fund. Honourable Carolyn Bertram, Minister of Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour, along with the Honourable George Webster, Minister of Agriculture and local MLA, recently presented the community with a plaque, congratulating them on their successful project.
“Recreational facilities are an important part in the health and wellness of Islanders. From a swing-set to an ice surface, we hope that the revitalization of these recreational facilities will inspire residents be active in their community,” said the Honourable Carolyn Bertram, Minister of Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour. “The Province of Prince Edward Island is pleased to work with the Community of Borden-Carleton to see these projects become a reality.”
The community recreation upgrades taking place in Borden-Carleton includes renovations to Gateway Arena and the installation of new playground equipment.
The Island Community Fund is just one component of the over $80 million the province is investing in infrastructure for our one island community.
