November 4, 2009 * Education and Early Childhood Development [to May 2015]A group of 25 employees of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development began working in Summerside this week as part of the permanent relocation of the department to Summerside, says Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Gerard Greenan. “We have 25 employees now settling into their new office space in the historic Holman’s building on Water Street,” said Minister Greenan. “Our experience in this first phase of the move will help us to plan for the relocation of 85 more staff in July 2010.” The relocation of the department is part of the provincial government’s One Island Community initiative which aims to make government services and permanent professional jobs available throughout the Island. Most of the employees who are relocating now live in the Prince County area. Many are curriculum or program specialists or employees who provide services in the Prince County area. The new office space also includes work stations for employees who will be working at the Summerside site a few days a week.Media Contact: Jean Doherty
