Three weeks after his gold medal run in Nagano, Japan, Dave "Eli" MacEachern, native Islander and member of the 1998 Olympic bobsled team, is coming home.

This Saturday, March 7, MacEachern will arrive to share his victory with the hundreds of family, friends and hometown fans who supported and cheered on the Island's sole Olympic ambassador. MacEachern's accomplishment in the Olympic two-man bobsled event was a source of pride to many Islanders and, in honour of his tremendous achievement, a celebration is being held to congratulate and welcome back the hometown hero.

Starting at 5:30 p.m., local talent, Chaisson Celtic Tide, will provide musical entertainment at the Charlottetown Civic Centre. Premier Pat Binns, Mayor George MacDonald and Byron Sutcliffe, President of Sport PEI, will be present to pay tribute to MacEachern. All Islanders are invited to share in the celebrations.
