As a result of an investigation conducted by the Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Commission, a number of violations of the Liquor Control Act, Liquor Control Act Regulations and Commission’s Licensee Policy Manual occurred at licensed premises belonging to Dog River Golf Links Inc. on the evening of December 31, 2008 and into the morning of January 1, 2009.
As a result of the information gathered through the investigation, a decision was made by the Board of the Commission to issue a Notice of Proposal recommending a cancellation of the Special Premise Liquor License (SL 93-0005) of Dog River Golf Links Inc. located in Clyde River for a one-year period, effective February 1, 2009. The License Holder did not accept the proposal and requested that the matter be heard by an Adjudicator appointed pursuant to the Liquor Control Act. The matter was heard on May 5 through May 8.
On Friday, May 15, 2009, the Adjudicator, Paul Michael, Q.C., released his decision and reasons in this matter. The Adjudicator determined that there were eight violations committed by the License Holder. The Adjudicator imposed a suspension of 30 days in relation to these violations.
The Commission Board will review the decision and will make a determination with respect to appeal in the near future.
