Drivers Asked to Use Caution as Painting Operations Get Underway

This week, crews from the Department of Transportation and Public Works began road painting operations on Prince Edward Island. Over the coming weeks, crews will be working diligently on roads across the Island to repaint highway markings which faded over winter. Road users are asked to use caution when approaching road painting operations.

“Drivers are asked to slow down and proceed safely in areas where crews are working to repaint highway markings,” says Minister of Transportation and Public Works Ron MacKinley. “The machinery used to paint the lines moves very slowly compared to regular highway traffic, so it’s very important that drivers pay attention, obey traffic control personnel and proceed with caution.”

Work will first be focussed on roads with heavier volumes of traffic before crews begin work on secondary roads. Drivers are asked to avoid driving on newly painted lines. Road painting operations typically take place over the whole summer, while weather permits.
