Canadian Youth Against Impaired Driving Conference Set For May 28-31 in Charlottetown

* Transportation and Public Works [to Jan 2010]
At the end of this month, hundreds of students from all over Canada will descend on Charlottetown for the annual Canadian Youth Against Impaired Driving (CYAID) conference. The conference is an opportunity for young people from organizations like Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) to share ideas and best practices with their counterparts from other provinces. They’ll also hear from a wide variety of nationally recognized presenters who will share their knowledge and stories about impaired driving.

“It’s very important that young people from all over Canada work together to spread the word about the dangers of impaired driving,” says Minister of Transportation and Public Works Ron MacKinley. “This is an excellent opportunity for groups like SADD to expand their knowledge base, and discover new ways to reach out to their communities.”

The conference will begin on May 28 and will be held at the University of Prince Edward Island. Approximately 400 students from all over the country will take part.

“It’s very exciting to be hosting this year’s conference on Prince Edward Island,” says Adeline Trainor, provincial co-ordinator for CYAID 2009. “Not only will we share our world-famous Island hospitality, but we will also share our stories and our experiences with the dangers of impaired driving.”
