February 7, 2009 * Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour [to Jan 2010]A house fire in Cornwall has been ruled accidental by the Provincial Fire Marshal`s Office. The Fire Marshal`s Office was called to investigate a house fire at 13 Lacadry Drive on Friday February 6, 2009. There were no injuries. A woman, her two infant daughters and a friend escaped the residence through a side door after they heard and felt the small explosion in the garage, which was in the lower level of the home. At 7:55 p.m., the North River Fire Department received numerous 911 calls reporting the fire. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they encountered one end of the structure fully engulfed in flames. The Fire Marshal`s Office has determined that the fire started when the home heating system ignited gasoline vapours in the garage. The gasoline vapors were released into the air earlier in the day as a result of mechanical work being done on recreational vehicles.Media Contact: David Rossiter
