December 1, 2008 * Innovation and Advanced Learning [to May 2015]Richard Brown, Minister of Innovation and Advanced Learning, met on the weekend with Li Guixi, Consul General of the Embassy for the People’s Republic of China, who has been touring the Maritime Provinces meeting with the Chinese community. The Consul General came to Charlottetown to offer assistance to members of the Chinese community who are in the process of renewing their passports. Minister Brown thanked the Consul General for his visit and noted that the Chinese community has experienced significant growth in the past few years and has made important economic and social contributions to Prince Edward Island. “The Consul General and I had a good discussion about the growth in our local Chinese population and how we can work together to improve relations between the two countries,” said Minister Brown. “We also discussed the possibility of inviting a trade mission from China to PEI to explore potential business and investment opportunities.”Media Contact: Kim Devine
