Premier Ghiz Congratulates Gail Shea on Federal Cabinet Appointment

Premier Robert Ghiz today congratulated Gail Shea on her appointment to the federal cabinet as Minister of Fisheries and Oceans. The appointment was made today in Ottawa by Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

“I am extremely pleased with the Prime Minister’s decision to appoint Gail Shea to the federal cabinet,” said Premier Robert Ghiz. “It has been too long since Prince Edward Island had a representative at the federal cabinet table, particularly in the portfolio of Fisheries and Oceans. I look forward to working with Minister Shea and hope that she will effectively represent the interests of Islanders in Ottawa.”

Premier Ghiz indicated that his government will be seeking a meeting with Minister Shea as soon as possible to discuss various issues relating to her new portfolio and the province in general.
