Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour Minister Carolyn Bertram is extending an invitation to the public to attend the 2008 PEI Book Award presentation on Wednesday, September 10, at Confederation Centre Public Library in Charlottetown.
The 2008 Book Award will honour the best volumes published in 2006 and 2007. Entries were judged on the quality of the overall publication based on writing, design, illustration and presentation. Prizes will be awarded in three categories: fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Winners in each category will receive a cash prize and a commemorative piece of artwork.
“I am looking forward to meeting the authors and presenting the awards in all three categories,” said Minister Bertram. “It is always exciting to recognize the active and vibrant literary arts in Prince Edward Island.”
The award ceremony will get underway at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
