Road Closure and Detour Scheduled for West Cape

* Transportation and Public Works [to Jan 2010]
Beginning the morning of Thursday, September 4, a road closure will take place on Route 14, between Route 142 and 147, in West Cape. The closure is necessary due to the replacement of a box culvert with a new concrete arch structure.

An alternate route will be posted and is described below. Drivers are asked to exercise patience and caution when following the alternate route.

“Our detailed bridge inspection program continues to identify structures in the province that are in need of repair or replacement,” says Minister of Transportation and Public Works Ron MacKinley. “This program also gives officials in this Department the opportunity to prioritize bridge work based on the findings of the inspections, which helps keep Island roads safe.”

South-bound traffic on Route 14 will be re-routed left onto Route 147, then right onto Route 144, right onto Route 142, and left back on to Route 14. For north-bound traffic, the alternate route is reversed. The road closure and alternate route are expected to remain in place until construction wraps up in mid-November.
