August 21, 2008 * Provincial Treasury [to Jan 2010]A group of university students from Brazil recently visited the Provincial Tax Commissioner, James Ramsay, to learn more about the province’s property mapping, registry and assessment system. The students attend the Federal University of Pernambuco in Brazil, where they study Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering. They were interested in studying the Island system as one that could work in their home country. “Prince Edward Island is widely recognized for having a model system of property mapping and assessment,” said Mr. Ramsay. ”These students asked some great questions about what we do here, and they’re really interested in emulating a lot of that in Brazil.” The students came to the Island through a partnership with the Department of Geodacy and Geomatics Engineering at the University of New Brunswick.Media Contact: Jennifer MacDonald-Donovan
