Provincial Minister of Innovation and Advanced Learning, Richard Brown, announced recently in the Legislative Assembly that he would be instructing the Provincial Lending Agency to have a loans officer available in the O’Leary Access PEI office for farmers who may need financial assistance for the coming season.
“Beginning Tuesday May 20, a loans officer from the PEI Lending Agency will be available in the O’Leary Access PEI office Tuesdays and Thursdays for the remainder of May and into June, depending upon demand,” said Minister Brown.
Minister Brown credited Rob Henderson, MLA for District 25 (O’Leary-Inverness), for raising the issue.
Questioned in the Legislature by Mr. Henderson, Minister Brown described the recent activities of the PEI Lending Agency and the amounts of applications and funding which were approved during the past few months.
Minister Brown thanked MLA Henderson who expressed the urgency of having a loans officer available in the area of O’Leary at this important period of the agriculture season and his request was approved by the Minister responsible.
