Winners were announced recently in the provincial parks photo contest, Capture the Experience. Cash prizes were awarded in four categories of the contest, and the overall winner, Linda Lowry-Raynor of Charlottetown, won first prize of $400 with her photo of a young boy collecting shells on the beach. She will also have the opportunity to appear in an episode of Emily of New Moon. In addition to Best Overall photo, she also captured second prize in the Naturally Entertaining category.
"Ms. Lowry-Raynor's photo really captured the beauty and experience of what it is like at our many provincial parks," said Wes MacAleer, Minister of Economic Development and Tourism. "We are planning to use the photo in our 1998 promotional material, as well as our Provincial Parks brochure."
Tanya Claus of Nepean, Ontario, won in two separate categories. Her photo of scenery on the beach won in the Park Scenery category, while her relaxing on the beach photo won in the Naturally Entertaining category. She received $150 for each win.
In the Campsite Experience category, Debbie Lidstone of Coleman, PEI, won with her photo of a young boy enjoying a piece of watermelon. Kay Love of Halifax, Nova Scotia, won in the Park Program Experience category with her photo of a young boy playing the bagpipes.
