Minister Expresses Sympathy on the Death of Labour Leader

Hon. Carolyn Bertram, Minister of Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour issued the following statement upon learning about the death of Donalda MacDonald.

“Islanders lost a true champion this weekend with the passing of CUPE PEI President, Donalda MacDonald. She was an advocate for the rights of workers locally and nationally. In 2007, she received the Grace Hartman Award for her very active role in the struggle for workers’ rights, equality and social justice.

“Donalda will be missed by her family and everyone she touched throughout her career, in her volunteer work and in her community. On behalf of Premier Robert Ghiz, and the government of Prince Edward Island, I extend sincere sympathies to Donalda’s family, friends and colleagues.”
