Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour Minister Hon. Carolyn Bertram is encouraging Islanders of all ages to get active and participate in WinterActive programs scheduled for January 18 - February 29, 2008.
The annual WinterActive campaign offers Islanders many opportunities to increase activity levels and improve eating habits. Activities on Prince Edward Island will be coordinated by the Active Living Alliance, Healthy Eating Alliance, recreation departments and communities.
“WinterActive is a great tool to promote healthy living,” said Minister Bertram. “I want to thank the Active Living Alliance and Healthy Eating Alliance for their continued efforts to improve the quality of life of Islanders through healthy living initiatives and activities.”
“Let’s all get out and get active this winter!” she added.
The Sport and Recreation Division of the Department of Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour is pleased to partner with these groups and to provide resources such as posters, promotional tools and a website containing healthy living information, www.gov.pe.ca/go/winteractive.
WinterActive is a partnership between the provinces and territories and the Public Health Agency of Canada to promote a more healthy lifestyle and a better quality of life for Canadians.
