New Staff Announced at Human Rights Commission

Richard Montigny, Chair of the Prince Edward Island Human Rights Commission, is pleased to announce the appointment of new senior staff members at the Commission.

The Commission has named Jim Hornby, a Charlottetown-based lawyer, as its new Executive Director. Jim brings an extensive background in criminal and civil litigation law to the Commission. He has practised in the province over the past 16 years, most recently at Crane & Hornby. Jim is also a recognized author on the black culture of our Province and has been involved with many community organizations.

In addition, the Commission has appointed Yolande Richard of Summerside as Human Rights Officer for the Commission. Yolande, a bilingual lawyer, has been practising law in the areas of litigation and real estate with the firm Cox & Palmer. She has been active in the law society, Rotary Club, and groups in the francophone community.

The Prince Edward Island Human Rights Commission, located at 53 Water Street in Charlottetown, is responsible for administering and enforcing the Prince Edward Island Human Rights Act.
