Any eligible elector in the cities of Charlottetown and Summerside and the towns of Cornwall and Stratford whose name is on the official list of electors and who will not be able to vote on election day, Monday, November 3, 1997 may vote at the Advance Poll established in his or her electoral ward within the four municipalities.
And further take notice that the following are fixed pursuant to the Election Bylaws:
CITY OF CHARLOTTETOWN: Ward 1, Queens Square, will hold an election for mayor only. The incumbent councillor has been elected by acclamation. Wards 2 to 10 will have an election for both mayor and councillor. In the city of Charlottetown there will also be a ballot for the plebiscite in all of the 10 electoral wards. Charlottetown Advance Poll location is the Charlottetown Civic Centre, 46 Kensington Road. Advance Poll Hours: Saturday, October 25th (9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.), and for the Advance Polls held Monday, October 27 to Saturday, Nov. 1, (12 noon to 6:00 p.m.).
CITY OF SUMMERSIDE: Ward 2, St. Eleanors-Slemon Park, will hold an election for mayor only. The incumbent councillor has been elected by acclamation. Wards 1 and 3 to 8 will have an election for both mayor and councillor. Summerside Advance Poll location is the Parkview Senior Citizens, 335 Central Street for Saturday, October 25, 1997 (from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) and for the Advance Polls held Monday, October 27 to Saturday, November 1, 1997 (from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m.) the location is The Returning Officers Headquarters, St. Eleanors Community Centre, 1 West Drive, St. Eleanors.
TOWN OF STRATFORD: Elections will be held in all three wards for 2 councillors per ward. The incumbent Mayor has been elected by acclamation. Stratford Advance Poll location is the Stratford Town Hall, 110 Mason Road. Advance Poll Hours: Monday, October 27, to Saturday, November 1, 1997 (from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m.).
TOWN OF CORNWALL: Elections will be held in the open ward for 6 councillors. The incumbent Mayor has been elected by elected by acclamation. Cornwall Advance Poll location is the Cornwall Civic Centre, 29 Cornwall Road. Advance Poll hours: Monday, October 27, to Saturday, November 1, 1997 (from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m.).
Please note that if any elector was not enumerated or did not register with his or her Returning Officer during the period of voter registration, his or her name will not be on the official list of electors. Furthermore, any eligible elector whose name does not appear on the official list of electors will not be able to vote at an advance poll, however may still vote in his or her electoral ward on election day, November 3, 1997, by appearing at the polling station within his or her ward and swearing an oath that he or she is eligible to vote.
