Premier Pat Binns and the Provincial Cabinet are holding their weekly meeting at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown, on the campus of the University of Prince Edward Island.
Premier Binns and cabinet often hold meetings in Island communities throughout the year. The AVC has just celebrated 20 years of being a fully accredited College and has experienced remarkable success and growth in that time. The Premier said today’s meetings will give government an opportunity to witness that growth, as well as the future plans for AVC.
“The AVC has been a tremendous success story for Prince Edward Island,” said Premier Pat Binns. “Our government has always appreciated the opportunity to visit communities and institutions to gain first hand knowledge of the projects they are working on. We are particularly excited about the exciting future in biomedical research and innovation on the campus.”
Cabinet will conduct its regular government business, then will hear presentations on a number of program initiatives, including the Centre for Aquatic Health Sciences, the Atlantic Centre for Bioproduct Valuation and Maritime Quality Milk.
Dr. Tim Ogilvie, Dean of AVC, will lead a tour of the expanded facilities following a question and answer session between cabinet, faculty and students.
