Workshop Planned for New Trappers

* Environment, Energy & Forestry [to Nov 2011]
The Department of Environment, Energy and Forestry is hosting Trapper Education Courses Saturday, October 14 at the Forest District Offices in Wellington and Southampton.

During the full-day course, novice trappers will be taught how to use certified traps to catch target animals humanely and efficiently, and they will learn about the cultural values of trapping, including the respect for and knowledge of the outdoors.

All trappers must complete the Trapper Education Course to obtain a trapping licence in Prince Edward Island. The course is free for youth under age 16. For others, there is a $10 registration fee to cover the cost of the course manual. Participants are required to read the manual and answer questions at the end of each chapter before attending the course.

The deadline to register and receive the course manual is October 12. For more information or to register, contact the Forests, Fish and Wildlife Division at (902) 368-4683 or toll-free at 1-866-368-4683.
