Premier Extends Congratulations

Premier Pat Binns congratulates Catherine Callbeck on her appointment to the Senate of Canada.

Ms. Callbeck has an extensive background in public service with experience as a Member of Parliament, MLA, and a business person. She achieved a Canadian first in becoming the first woman elected Premier of a Canadian Province. Her understanding of the importance of all levels of government co-operating to meet the needs of Islanders will be an asset in advancing the concerns of Islanders.

Premier Binns says, with the importance of federal programs and services to Islanders, Prince Edward Island Senators play a key role in meeting, protecting and advancing the needs of Islanders. "We have to work as a team, MP's, Senators, and the Island government, in ensuring the needs of this province are met. Members of the Senate have a presence in Ottawa that can be very beneficial in meeting regional and local objectives."
