Bidding Underway for Chance to Play Golf with Jack Nicklaus In Support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada
It’s the wildest dream of every golf fan; the chance to play with the legendary Jack Nicklaus. This summer, that dream will be a reality for one incredibly lucky fan when Nicklaus comes to Prince Edward Island to play against his longtime friend and rival, Tom Watson, in the Making the Connections, Legends of Golf event at Dundarave Golf Course at the Rodd Brudenell River Resort. Bidding for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is underway, with proceeds to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Making the Connection has generously donated one of the spots in their Pro-Am foursome playing with Nicklaus on June 19 to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada for a very special fundraising campaign. A silent auction is currently underway to see who will win this “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity. A starting bid of $12,000 has already been submitted.
“This is such a great story,” said Honourable Philip Brown, Minister of Tourism. “While spectators are assured a great golf event, the added benefits of fund-raising for the Heart and Stoke Foundation bring obvious added value. This particular silent auction will be fun to watch as well with the bid starting at $12,000. Someone is going to end up with quite a memorable golf day this June 19.”
Those interested in bidding on the Jack Nicklaus Pro-Am package are asked to send an e-mail to GolfwithJack@hsf.on.ca to submit and track their bids, or call the Heart and Stroke Foundation at (416) 489-7111, extension 856, to place a bid by phone. Bidding on this item will close at 12 p.m. (EST) on Tuesday, May 2, 2006.
“I am looking forward to joining my friend Tom Watson for the match in PEI in June, and now we have an even greater way to raise additional funds for the event’s charity,” said Nicklaus.
Jack Nicklaus is considered by many to be the greatest golfer of all time. With 83 combined PGA Tour and Championship Tour wins, including a record 18 professional majors, plus more than 30 victories around the world, Nicklaus’ records seem almost untouchable.
Tickets for the two-day event, June 19-20, can be purchased through Ticketweb.com or by phone 1-888-222-6608. This contact information and further event details can be found online at www.legendsofgolfpei.com.
