Prince Edward Island companies have just returned from Boston after attending the International Boston Seafood Show and the Seafood Processing America Show. Ten Island companies participated in the three-day trade show, which attracted more than 10,000 potential buyers from over 80 countries and 850 exhibitors from around the world.
“Shows of this nature are important marketing activities in which Prince Edward Island seafood companies can participate,” said MLA Jim Bagnall on behalf of the Minister of Development and Technology, Mike Currie. “Island companies that attend this show are able to source new ideas, markets and customers, as well as meet with existing customers and launch new products. The Prince Edward Island seafood industry is a major contributor to our economy and attending events like this allows Island companies to receive great exposure on an international stage.”
Exhibiting companies in this year’s show included PEI Mussel King, L&C Fisheries/Green Gables Mussels, Acadian Fishermen’s Co-op Association Ltd., Ocean Choice, Atlantic Canada Lobster Promotion Group, Canadian Mussels Ltd., Prince Edward Aqua Farms, Atlantic Aqua Farms, Confederation Mussels Ltd. and Charlottetown Metal Products.
“After attending the International Boston Seafood Show for many years, I can say with a degree of experience that this year’s event, which added a new venue, created a stronger appeal to the overall event,” said Jim Dunphy, Canadian Mussels Limited president. “With the entire show located on one floor, we felt that those who walked it had a greater opportunity to network, view and enjoy the whole show. This translated into better than ever coverage and exposure for our company.”
The Prince Edward Island Pavilion was located in the Atlantic Canada Pavilion of the International Boston Seafood Show. The Atlantic Canada Pavilion was 6,000 square feet of which Prince Edward Island had 1,000 square feet. The Atlantic Canada Pavilion in the Seafood Processing America Show was 800 square feet and home to Prince Edward Island company, Charlottetown Metal Products.
The Atlantic Canada Working Committee, along with Prince Edward Island Business Development Inc. and Technology PEI, were the lead in coordinating this year’s Atlantic Canada Pavilion in both the International Boston Seafood Show and the Seafood Processing America Show.
