Sixth Annual Buyer's Market Set for this Weekend

Craft and giftware retailers will once again have the opportunity to select high-quality, Island-made crafts for the upcoming tourist season. The sixth annual Prince Edward Island Buyer’s Market will take place this weekend at the Delta Prince Edward Hotel in Charlottetown.

“The Government of Prince Edward Island remains committed to the growth and development of the craft and giftware industry in Prince Edward Island,” said the Premier of Prince Edward Island, Pat Binns. “With the buying season gearing up, trade shows are beginning once again and the annual PEI Buyer’s Market has been strategically placed to kick off the 2006 buying season. Buyers will find the best that the industry has to offer from our Island producers.”

This year’s event is pleased to welcome 15 new exhibitors. Retailers will be coming from various locations across the Maritime provinces to participate in the event.

“Since its inception in 2001, the Buyer’s Market has enjoyed overwhelming success,” said Minister of Development and Technology, Michael Currie. “Island craft and giftware producers continue to provide products of unique quality, and consumer demand for Island-made product continues to rise.”

This wholesale show will also feature interesting and informative seminars by two of Canada’s top retail sales presenters.

On January 20, the keynote speaker for Friday’s seminar will be Nadja Piatka, presenting “The Necessary Ingredients to Become a Successful Entrepreneur.” From best-selling author to the Oprah Winfrey Show, Piatka will share how she made a dream come true.

On Saturday, January 21, Leslie Kish Groves will be onsite to talk about “Stretching the Dollar to Make Dynamic Displays.” Learn the time-saving tips as Groves shares her secrets to successful retailing.
