December 5, 2005 Premier's OfficePremier Pat Binns issued the following statement to acknowledge International Volunteer Day in Prince Edward Island:“Every day in Prince Edward Island, countless volunteers are actively involved in making a difference – improving their communities and the lives of other Islanders. Islanders are known throughout the world as people who are willing to volunteer to assist others. This is our way. Our quality of life depends on the vibrancy of the volunteer sector and the support it provides to our province.“The Government of Prince Edward Island values the contribution made by volunteers. Volunteering is a powerful mechanism. It forges bonds between and among Islanders, creating the basis for meaningful co-operation, action and results around common goals.“Today is International Volunteer Day and, throughout Prince Edward Island, the extraordinary people who invest their lives in improving our communities are being celebrated.
