The Close of Nominations for School Board Trustee Elections is Friday, May 13, 2005 at 4 p.m. for the 29 school trustee positions throughout the three school district/boards; namely the Eastern School District, Western School Board and the French Language School Board.
Later on Friday evening, following the Close of Nominations, Elections PEI will list the nomination results on the Elections PEI website at www.electionspei.ca .
The candidates will be listed under one of the following three categories for each of the school trustees positions:
-In school zones where elections are required, the nominated candidates’ names will be listed;
-In school zones where elections are not required because the required number of candidate(s) have offered for nomination, the candidate(s) will be declared elected by acclamation; or
-In school zones where there have been no offers for nomination, these zones will be listed for Ministerial Appointment which will be announced later by the Minister of Education, the Honourable Mildred Dover.
Early next week Elections PEI will be publishing in the Island newspapers a listing of all the school electoral zones and the corresponding election procedures required as a result of Friday’s Close of Nominations.
