Transportation and Public Works Minister, Honourable Michael Currie, announced that effective July 16, 1997, the Charlottetown Branch of the Highway Safety Division, currently housed in the MacMillan Building, will be operating from the Ian MacLeod Building (adjacent to Bagnall's Building Supplies) on Riverside Drive.
The new location has easier access from the Charlottetown by-pass highway, ample parking, a drive-through window, a quick-drop mail slot and an "express" counter for simple transactions. These services are being implemented as part of the move.
Mr. Currie said, "The professional and competent service currently provided to our clients remains our top priority. I am confident the implementation of these new services will provide an added level of quality customer service as well as increase the speed and efficiency with which transactions are processed."
The office will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, July 14 and 15, 1997 to accommodate the move. The public is encouraged to handle business transactions impacted by the closure prior to that date. The 24-hour Telephone Vehicle Registration System phone lines at 1-800-658-1807 will remain operational throughout the period.
