Fifth Annual Buyer's Market Set For This Weekend

Craft and giftware retailers are invited to participate in the Fifth Annual Buyer’s Market being held at the Delta Prince Edward Hotel on January 21-22, 2005. The two-day event is an excellent opportunity for retailers to source quality, Island-made products to sell during the upcoming season.

“The Buyer’s Market is one of several government initiatives designed to promote and enhance our vibrant craft and giftware industry,” said Minister of Development and Technology Michael Currie. “Since its implementation in 2000, the Buyer’s Market has been a very popular event with both retailers and buyers and has proven to be more successful each year. With a market valued at over $25 million annually, the demand for Island-made products exceeds the supply of local producers each year. By supporting Prince Edward Island craftspeople, initiatives like the Buyer’s Market will help our craft and giftware industry realize its full potential.”

This year’s event will feature over 20 new exhibitors in addition to returning producers. Open only to retailers, this wholesale show also features exciting seminars by two of Atlantic Canada’s top retail-sales presenters.

The keynote speaker for the morning seminar on Friday, January 21, will be Pete Luckett, presenting “Cultivating Incredible Customer Experiences,” from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. On Saturday morning, January 22, the breakfast seminar begins at 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. and will feature Carol Lesbirel presenting “Who Says You Can’t Capture Your Market.”

The Prince Edward Island Buyer’s Market is free to all retailers and is presented by Prince Edward Island Business Development. For more information, contact Marie Walsh at 569-7787 or dmwalsh@gov.pe.ca.
