Tourism accommodations Ravenglass and Rig’s Ladder have been awarded the highest possible five-star rating through the Canada Select Accommodation Rating Program. The vacation homes, owned and operated by Wouter Germans and Hilary Knox, now join a growing group of five-star accommodations on Prince Edward Island which offer “luxurious accommodation, guest services and amenities, at a world-class standard” as outlined in the five-star requirements.

The properties are located in Sea View, P.E.I., with an exceptional view of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Both are exquisitely decorated and the designer wanted the architectural nature of the properties to portray the best possible experience for the traveller. The units offer five bedrooms and five bathrooms and much detail was given to providing appropriate space for children of travelling families. The kitchens are a chef’s dream with stainless steel appliances including everything from ice-makers to wine coolers to heating ovens. Outside, clients can enjoy outdoor hot tubs and pools and then retire to the warmth of a P.E.I. hearth stone fireplace. See pictures of these properties on their Web site: www.beautifulpei.com.

“I am pleased to welcome Ravenglass and Rig’s Ladder to the prestigious group of five-star accommodations for Prince Edward Island,” said Philip Brown, Minister of Tourism. “Mr. Germans and Ms. Knox have addressed a need in the market, primarily for larger families, by providing attractive and ample living space complemented with lots of activities for both children and adults.”

The Canada Select Accommodation Rating Program assesses accommodations within six categories – each with their own unique criteria. On Prince Edward Island, we boast seven Bed and Breakfast, one resort and now two cottage operations which have received the distinction of a five-star rating.

John Cudmore, Chair of Canada/Camping Select on Prince Edward Island noted, “I’d like to congratulate the owners of Ravenglass and Rig’s Ladder on their five-star rating. They have done an exceptional job with their properties, and the entire tourism industry on P.E.I. will benefit as the number of high-quality accommodations grow on the Island.”

The Canada and Camping Select Rating Programs are delivered in nine provinces and one territory, assessing more than 200,000 accommodation units and camping sites nationwide. The rating program assists the travelling public in choosing accommodations which meet their needs and expectations. In Prince Edward Island, 85 percent of properties and 90 percent of units/sites are rated using the Canada and Camping Select programs.
