The 2004 recipients of the Order of Prince Edward Island will be honoured at a special investiture ceremony at Government House on Tuesday, 7 September, 2004 at 7 p.m.
Chancellor of the Order, the Honourable J. Léonce Bernard, Lieutenant Governor, will confer the honour on the following individuals: Father Éloi Arsenault of Egmont Bay, Reverend Dr. Francis W. P. Bolger, CM of Charlottetown, and, Ms. Barbara McNeill of Summerside
Following the Ceremony, the Premier will host a reception in honour of the recipients.
The honour was conferred for the first time in 1996 at which time six individuals were invested in the Order; since that time there have been three people invested each year.
The Order is awarded annually to recognize those Islanders who have shown individual excellence or demonstrated outstanding leadership in their community and in their chosen occupation or profession. It is the highest honour that can be accorded a citizen of the Province and is facilitated through a public nomination process. Recipients are selected by an independent nine-person Advisory Council as appointed pursuant to the Provincial Emblems and Honours Act.
