Well-known Quebec author Lucie Papineau will read to students at Prince Edward Island schools and libraries May 3 to 5. The tour is sponsored by the Canada Council for the Arts and organized by the Departments of Community and Cultural Affairs and Education.
"We are pleased to host Ms. Papineau and to provide increased opportunities for students and patrons to enjoy literary readings from well-known French authors," said Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs, Elmer MacFadyen.
The author will be visiting the three French library branches and some immersion schools. Lucie Papineau will meet grade 2 students from both French and French immersion schools.
Education Minister Mildred Dover welcomed the opportunity for students to meet this distinguished children's author. "For a young child, meeting a writer and hearing her read from her works is a very exciting experience, which can make the world of books much more real and inspire a love of reading," she said.
