Team PEI Chef De Mission and Assistant Chef De Mission Announced for 2005 Canada Summer Games

The Honourable Elmer MacFadyen, Minister responsible for Sport, today announced the Team PEI Chef de Mission and Assistant Chef de Mission for the 2005 Canada Summer Games to be held in Regina, Saskatchewan, August 6 -20, 2005.

"It is my pleasure to announce Ted Lawlor as Chef de Mission and Joanne Wallace as Assistant Chef de Mission for the 2005 Canada Summer Games," said Minister MacFadyen. "Both will represent the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs. Additional members of the Mission Staff will be announced in the spring."

Mission staff are responsible for all administrative duties for the sixteen teams representing Prince Edward Island at the 2005 Canada Games. All information from the Host Society and Canada Games Council is disseminated in each province and territory through the Chef de Mission. Dissemination of pre-games information such as each sport's technical package, logistics around travel to and from games, accommodation lists, sport schedules, etc. are some of the pre-games responsibilities. The mission staff also facilitate communication between athletes and media and parents at home.

"I, along with Assistance Chef Joanne Wallace, look forward to assisting in the development of the Mission Staff team and working with coaches, officials, athletes, volunteers and government as we continue to prepare for the 2005 games."
