October 8, 2003 * Agriculture and Forestry [to Oct 2003] Three new directors have been elected to the Prince Edward Island Milk Marketing Board. Eric Phillips, O'Leary, has been elected to represent the West Prince District. Murray Myles, Returning Officer reported that Mr. Phillips was elected following the ballot count on October 8. Mr. Phillips defeated Pauline Wood, West Cape, for the position. Twenty-four valid ballots were counted from the forty-one registered producers of this district. Mr. Phillips will be joined on the Milk Marketing Board by Gordon Furness who was elected by acclamation to represent the Montague District and Ronald Maynard who was elected by acclamation to represent the Summerside District. The Prince Edward Island Milk Marketing Board consists of nine members, with eight members representing the milk sector and one member representing the cream sector. Members are elected on a staggered basis to three-year terms so that, in each year, three Board positions are up for election.Media Contact: Daphne Crosby
