A program designed to assist new information or communications technology entrepreneurs has been introduced by Technology PEI. Details of the program were unveiled today by Development and Technology Minister Mike Currie.
"LaunchPAD is designed to accelerate the growth of businesses within the Information and Communications Technology sector of this province," said Minister Currie. "We are particularly interested in companies who are export oriented because we feel this provides us with an excellent opportunity for continued growth."
LaunchPAD offers newly formed companies a chance to receive important business and support services. Those services will be made available at the Atlantic Technology Centre or at one of the three Rural IT Centres in the province.
Eligible companies will have a well defined business plan and will have the potential to:
- commercialize new technologies
- export new products and services
- create jobs and wealth in the province
Companies who are accepted into the program will be offered space at one of the four technology centres as well as access to state of the art technologies. The services of professional mentors, managed by the program advisor, will provide guidance and advice as required.
Companies will be required to pay a fee to participate in this program. "I am particularly pleased to be able to offer this program across the Province," said Minister Currie. "This program represents an excellent opportunity for people with good ideas and a solid business plan to begin a business, no matter where in the province they are located."
