August 14, 2003 * Agriculture and Forestry [to Oct 2003] The Department of Agriculture and Forestry is inviting producers of all commodities to attend an information session next week on the new Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization Program. The proposed new program would replace the Canadian Farm Income Program, which provides disaster protection, and the Net Income Stabilization Account Program, which provides income stabilization. The new program provides producers with the opportunity to stabilize their farm income and provide income protection in the event of a disaster. The program is expected to be launched later this year. Additional information sessions will be held at that time explaining how to enroll. The information sessions are being held at the O'Leary Lions Club on August 18, at the Loyalist Country Inn in Summerside on August 20, and at the Farm Centre in Charlottetown on August 21. Each meeting takes place between 7 and 9 p.m. For more information, call the Farm Income Management section of the department at 368-4843. Media Contact: David Aiton
