Technology PEI Establishes Award of Excellence

Technology PEI has established a CAP Award of Excellence in recognition of the many individuals that contribute to the CAP Program of PEI. The Stephen Dennis Memorial award will be given out for the first time in CAP Program history at the IT Week Gala Dinner on May 8, 2003.

Stephen Dennis was the founder of the Tremploy Inc. CAP site in 1998 and was instrumental in developing the state-of-the-art site which caters to clients of the centre as well as the general public. Tremploy is recognized for its contributions to programming for persons with intellectual disabilities. Stephen was a very active proponent of the program and IT in general. He continued to communicate with clients of Tremploy by sending daily inspirational messages via e-mail right up until his untimely passing. The Tremploy CAP Site has been re-named the Steven Dennis Centre in honor of his contributions to Information Technology, his community and to the hundreds of clients he touched over the years.

In order to be eligible for the award, participants must be associated with one of the 77 CAP locations throughout the province.

The criteria used to adjudicate applications will include: nominees contributions to the community in Information Technology awareness, length of commitment, special projects and recognized achievement.

All site volunteers, trainers, mangers, site co-ordinators and board members of each location are eligible for nomination by community peers.
