The 2003 Marketing and Media Plan was released today by Tourism PEI and the Tourism Marketing Authority (TMA) in Charlottetown during Tourism Day 2003. Jeffrey Lantz, Minister of Tourism joined Jeannette Arsenault, Co-Chair for the Tourism Marketing Authority (TMA) in announcing details for the new campaign.
"The theme building tourism together is dominant in the tourism industry on Prince Edward Island," noted Mr. Lantz. "The fact that everyone works together for the betterment of the industry is evident through the well-researched and market-driven plan unveiled each year. Tourism PEI and the TMA participate in long hours of consultations with the TMA working group, our marketing agency and the members of the tourism industry on PEI."
The annual presentation is new each year with research-based approaches to marketing being showcased to members of the tourism industry of Prince Edward Island before the plan is delivered to the customer, the travelling public. The presentation also offers industry members a chance to consider buying in to co-operative marketing ventures.
"We have embarked on a number of new motivators for the traveller," noted TMA Co-Chair, Ms. Jeannette Arsenault. "As examples, we created some new initiatives in Quebec in order to capture a larger market from that region and created a whole new commercial, geared to attract Maritimers in the fall, which was produced by local company Moses Media. In addition, Ontario continues to be very successful, and we have entered into some interesting partnerships with events like Anne of Green Gables – The MuscialTM at Atlantic Scene and a great new win/win agreement with Jetsgo."
"Each new marketing and media plan shows that partnership and cooperation with the PEI tourism industry continues to grow," added Mr. Lantz, "and, as a direct result, tourism will grow as well."
