Tourism Marketing Authority Elects New Co-Chair

* Tourism [to Jan 2010]
The Minister of Tourism, Jeffrey Lantz, is pleased to welcome Jeanette Arsenault as Co-Chair to the Tourism Marketing Authority (TMA) for Prince Edward Island. Ms. Arsenault has served on the TMA since its inception and is presently in her eighth year with the group. Originally from Abrams Village, Ms. Arsenault represents the crafts and seasonal retail outlets sector and was elected by the private-sector members of the board to the position of Co-Chair. In addition to her Acadian background, Ms. Arsenault's knowledge of the crafts and seasonal retail outlets has been honed by 13 years of co-ownership of Cavendish Figurines, a prominent retail outlet.

The Tourism Marketing Authority is a 12-member, private sector board co-chaired by the Deputy Minister of Tourism. The members represent eleven different sectors of the tourism industry, and all marketing strategies and programs are vetted through TMA for approval. The group plays a very active role advising Tourism PEI on more detailed aspects of the annual marketing campaign.

As one of her first official duties, Ms. Arsenault will co-host the current tourism marketing plan to industry members during a comprehensive presentation to be held at the Confederation Centre of the Arts, March 3, 2003. Anyone interested in the presentation is invited to attend the event which begins at 6:30 p.m.

Earlier this month, Ms. Arsenault replaced departing Co-Chair James Tingley, former General Manger of the Delta Prince Edward, who moved on to a new position with Delta in Alberta.
