Minister Approves Use of Credit Cards For Licensees

Honourable Jeffrey E. Lantz, Minister Responsible for the Liquor Control Commission, announced that effective Tuesday, October 15, 2002, licensees across Prince Edward Island will be allowed to use credit cards to purchase products from the Commission.

The Minister stated that numerous requests were received by the Commission for the use of credit cards by licensees. The use of credit cards is now a standard business practice within the industry across Canada.

Wayne MacDougall, CEO for the Commission, indicated licensees purchase approximately $12 million worth of product from the Commission annually, and the use of credit cards will increase licensee cash flow by allowing additional time for payment. The Commission will benefit by reducing the amount of cash and cheques being held at Commission outlets and providing another service for licensees.
