Province and EDS Meet

Premier's Office
The Honourable Pat Binns, Premier of Prince Edward Island, and Mr. John Dowd, President of EDS Canada, announced today an intent to continue to explore business opportunities in Prince Edward Island.

"We had a very good meeting, and have once again extended an invitation to EDS Canada to locate a Customer Interaction Centre in Prince Edward Island," said Premier Binns. "While they indicated they are not planning on locating a new call centre in PEI at this point, they made it clear they want to continue to have a good working relationship with the province."

"We did not accept a previous offer to locate in Montague," said Mr. Dowd. "A call centre in Prince Edward Island is not in our corporate plan, we however, consider Prince Edward Island to be a good place to do business and will continue to jointly examine future development."

EDS Canada currently engages 25 employees and subcontractors in Prince Edward Island, developing a Client Service Delivery Network (CSDN) for the Department of Health and Social Services.

EDS Canada expects to locate the CSDN Centre of Excellence in the Atlantic Technology Centre and is now negotiating the terms of the lease. Employment levels with EDS and local partners may reach 100, within 5 years.
