Honourable Jeffrey E. Lantz, Attorney General announced today the appointment of Lorraine Robinson as a lay member to the Council of the Law Society of Prince Edward Island. The appointment was made by Lieutenant Governor in Council pursuant to the Legal Profession Act, Section 7(1).
"It is my pleasure to congratulate Ms. Robinson on her appointment," says Attorney General Lantz. "Lay members have always played a very important role in the work of the council and the Law Society. I am sure that she will serve the council well and find the position both challenging and rewarding."
Membership of the Council of the Law Society of Prince Edward Island consists of the officers of the society, six members of the society and two lay members. The council is responsible for the management of the affairs of the society.
Ms. Robinson's educational background includes a certificate in Industrial Relations from Queens University and a Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Prince Edward Island. She is also the Provincial Coordinator for the Boys and Girls Club of Prince Edward Island and has served as Executive Director of the Wellington Area Boys and Girls Club. Until recently, Ms. Robinson served in the role of Chair of the Western School Board of Prince Edward Island, a position which she held for eight years. She has also served as a member of the Charlottetown Airport Authority and a member of the Audit and Assessment Committee of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada.
