City of Summerside Hosts Successful Cavendish Farms Baseball Canada National Peewee Championships

The City of Summerside played host to the Cavendish Farms Baseball Canada National Peewee Championships for the eighth time on the weekend.

Honourable Elmer MacFadyen, Minister Responsible for Sport and Recreation, extended congratulations to organizers, volunteers and athletes on a successful event.

"The City of Summerside Organizing Committee led by Chair Paul Gallant, city staff and many volunteers are to be commended on hosting another successful competition for Peewee baseball players from across Canada," said Minister MacFadyen.

The representative from Quebec completed the competition as the overall winner.

"All teams are to be congratulated on an exciting weekend of competition," said Minister MacFadyen. "The City of Summerside continues to be a great host city for this event."

The Charlottetown Abbies served as representatives of Prince Edward Island while the Summerside Consolidated Credit Union team represented the host city of Summerside.

Minister MacFadyen also acknowledged the tremendous support offered by coaches, sponsors, spectators and Islanders in making the National Championships a resounding success once again.

The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, through the recreation and sport section, works to advance physical activity and strives to make PEI Canada's most active province.
