Tourism Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia's Tourism Partnership Council, in partnership with Bay Ferries, the Canadian Tourism Commission and the Atlantic Canada Tourism Partnership, is staging Canada's biggest marketing promotion of the year in the US in Boston from May 15-20, 2002.
North America's fastest car ferry, The Cat, which runs from Bar Harbour to Yarmouth, will be transformed into a floating travel fair for Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, May 16-20, in a high profile promotion to emphasize our 2002 marketing program for New England.
Docked at the Carlestown Navy Yard in Boston National Historical Park, The Cat will serve as the centrepiece to attract important, high-impact media, top travel trade producers, travel writers, travel influencers, high profile VIP's and the attention of thousands of Bostonians and New Englanders interested in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia as their vacation destination of choice.
"We have great faith in this promotion for the New England area," said Minister of Tourism for PEI, Greg Deighan. "Early indications are that the number of visitors driving to PEI is going to increase for 2002. We are easy to get to, we offer great places, food and experiences and, for New Englanders, our dollar offers a great value. All of these factors will work to our benefit for the upcoming season."
Boston residents and special guests will be invited to "Climb Aboard Canada's Biggest Cat" to sample the spirit of a Prince Edward Island/Nova Scotia vacation on board the ship and dockside. More than 50 booths for industry operators will be set up on The Cat car deck and will be the core of the promotion. Dockside entertainment will feature live music and animators will welcome and mingle with visitors. The program also includes special media and travel trade functions, a VIP cruise and industry seminars and presentations.
Boston makes great cents!
