Producers Join Marketing Boards

Kenny MacLellan, Chair of the Prince Edward Island Marketing Council, today announced the election and appointment of new members to the Egg Marketing and Milk Marketing boards.

Donald Burns of Freetown and Donald Drake of Waterside have been elected by acclamation to the Egg Marketing Board. Peter Stavert of Freetown was appointed to the Board by the Marketing Council following the resignation of one of the elected members. Board members are elected for a two-year term. They will join existing Board members Peter Vriends and Leith Murray.

Mr. MacLellan also announced the appointment of Gordon Furness, Vernon Bridge, to the Milk Marketing Board. The appointment, made necessary by the resignation of a board member, is effective immediately. His term will end in 2003. Regulations governing the Milk Marketing Board authorize the Marketing Council to appoint a registered producer when a vacancy occurs.
