* Tourism [to Jan 2010]
Tourism PEI Minister, Greg Deighan announced today that the Prince Edward Island 2002 Visitors Guide is now available for distribution. The newest version of this very popular publication offers more pages than ever before with more listings and references to links within the Web site, www.peiplay.com, Tourism PEI's electronic version of the printed guide.

The Tourism Marketing Authority (TMA) works closely with the Department to create a luring and effective information piece with great marketing potential. The Visitors Guide is one of the main tools used by the tourism industry to relay their information to the public. Through this means, potential visitors are able to research accommodations, restaurants, activities, touring products and general information about Prince Edward Island.

"With separate versions of the Visitors Guide in English and French complemented with the same information on the internet, we have created an invaluable tool for those who wish to research their upcoming vacation," noted Minister Deighan. "The visibility of properties has been increased substantially, and our potential visitors are getting the greatest amount of information possible in order to make decisions about their vacation here. In addition, we are pleased to note that we have 40,000 more copies than last year, for a total of 420,000 guides."

The Visitors Guides are used in mailouts to fulfil requests through telephone, internet, fax or mail enquiries or responses to special promotions. The balance will be distributed across Prince Edward Island to be handed to visitors upon their arrival to Visitor Information Centres and Welcome Centres. In addition, many Islanders use the book as a reference for their own activities as well as advising visitors what to do and where to go.

"Take a look a the 2002 Guide," suggested Minister Deighan. "You'll find great ideas for activities and some wonderful properties that celebrate Prince Edward Island. Tourism PEI looks forward to distributing even more Visitor Guides than ever before with high expectations for a great 2002 season for everyone in the tourism industry."
